After spending ten years in New York he removed to London, which place has since been his headquarters. He cautioned the two younger children, in the room with him, to keep from in front of the gun. He retired from the war with the rank of brigadier general but toward the close o the war he was promoted to the next higher rank but the war closed before his commission reached him.
